Just out of curisity and with late war coming up fast I wondered , when building your vehicles how much Stowage (if any) you guys use ?

I have been working on my U.S armor and have been putting Cam-nets and stowage on everything , not liking the BF stuff I dug out my putty and added the detail myself , but guys at my club say I have gone overboard with it

I dont think you can have too much stowage on allied vehicles and have been looking at lots of pictures and think my vehicles are not too bad at all.

For example , this is a scout car from my cavalry recon with some stowage added and I think it adds to its appearence , What do you think ? Too much ? just right ? or should vehicles look like they rolled of the detroit lines yesterday ?

Actually,

your stowage appears way to light. My father was a M4 Sherman tanker in WWII and Korea and if you saw some of the pictures you would realize that anything that could be attached, was attached. The more mobile your home is, the more need there is to take everything you may ever need with you.

They carried crates of food, nets, tents, sleeping bags, wire, rope, logs, extra rifles(M1 Garands strapped to the outside of the tank), they even cut and then welded the M2 .50 so the commander could use it from his cupola.

I personally don't use a lot of stowage. I used to, but found it kept falling off the more I handled the miniatures. So since my armies are for field work, I have left off alot of the fluff.

Your work looks great. I love M3 scout cars, my Soviets use them.

Havent worked out a good way to do boxes yet so might have to bite the bullet and buy some , limited to Cam-nets rolls and jerrycans at the moment

have also started some M5A1's and am contemplating sandbagging the front as it seems to have been a pretty widespread thing after Normandy ?

Bob, You look at the photos from Europe of our armored vehicles and I would be worried about secondary fires. They are loaded with all kinds of junk and you often see dogs that they picked up as pets along the way. I don't think you could put to much stuff on the vehicles. There is a good photo of Pattons break out, south of Falaise, with 50 gallon drums on the back of his tanks because they didn't want to stop for fuel. They were moving so fast. So load them up, it will be accurate.

i think it looks great, especially when you consider you made the stowage yourself. if anything i would have to say light also, but it looks super right now.
