My opponent for this week (Jay) didn't get together with his week 2 opponent. Neither did I. Both of us had some injured guys from Week 1 and figured that they'd still be injured this week. Right?

Correct, players miss next game, not next week.

If you two want you can make up your week 2 games by playing each other twice in a row, and count both as regular matchups and not one of yor four extras.
I am pretty sure that both Ron and Jack have dropped out do to things beyond there control.
