Oh, c'mon. It was THAT title or just saying KHAAAAAAAAAAANNN!!!
Ok, first I'm going to tell you something scary, but as you read on, I'll make you feel better about it.
WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!! Come back.
Now first off, you DO realize that Merlyn's gives you FIFTEEN percent off when you buy things over $100, right?
So already, you've not paid state tax, like, twice.
Now, for the even better part.
ST: Fleet Captains is an awesome game.
Each player randomly DRAWS ships from a deck. You get 10 points to build a fleet out of the 24 highly detailed ships. The Enterprise is worth 6 points and other, littler ships are worth about 1 - 3 points each.
Now, you draw different missions for your deck.
After randomly setting up the board (so it's different every time), you set out your ships.
All the ships use the Heroclix dials, so you have your speed, damage, etc. ON THE DIAL of your ship.
You then take your ship and say, it has a movement of 6. You move into a space then see how many spaces it takes to move through that card. An example would be, if you drew a black hole, it's going to take more of your movement to get through the card than if you just pulled something smaller.
While flying through, you may also have an ENCOUNTER, which could be anything from meeting Q to Ferengi traders.
There's even an event card that allows the Klingons player to switch positions with Federation characters, so you could have Klingons on the Enterprise.
There is a deck building part of the game where you choose between heavy class ships or explorer ships.
You can cloak ships, scan an area before you move into it, transport crew to planets, tons of stuff.
Now this may look intimidating but it's really not.
The game takes about 90 minutes to play and is good for ages 14 and up.
Now, don't get me wrong, this ISN'T just a "blow up your opponent" type game. You are in control of fleet and its mission. You may never even fight each other.
This is sort of like RISK in space if you had separate missions for your armies.
It's a very balanced game if you want to play more Science or something else.
In fact, EXPANSIONS are already in the works for more races!
