Here's my current games I got at hand and play whenever I got a chance.
*Talisman 4th revised edition:
My current favorite. Fast, fun and never a similar game. 2-6 players, 4 is optimal, IMHO, but 6 is sure OK as well.
*Britannia:
History of Britain from Nero's invasion in 45 until the Norman invasion in 1066. Fun game, 3-5 players, but realistically only balanced well enough for 4 IMHO. Easy to learn and if you are not entirely up on Britain History, you will be after one game.
*GMT games-Von Mannstein's backhand blow:
The battle of Charkov on the Eastern front in early 1943. Fast-paced turns, intriguing game mechanism and typical WW2 eastern front board game of not too complex character. 2-player game
*GMT games-roads to Leningrad:
First serious Sovjet counter-attack during WW2. Although the russians still lost, the battle tied up vital German resource and might very well have saved Leningrad and even Moscow from falling a few months later. A somewhat unknown part of WW2 history. Lovable game mechanism again. 2-player game.
*Advanced Squad Leader:
WW2 tactical infantry combat on battalion level with each piece representing about one squad or less. Can simulate any side in the conflict and has tons of expandable scenarios from all theaters of operation. Somewhat more complex to learn, but the scenarios are short and very specific. Even one scenario exists to simulate the famous Jewish Warsaw ghetto uprising in 1943. 2-players.
*Axis&Allies:
-Regular game: fun, simplistic and interactive. 5-player is best
-D-DAY: tactical level of the Normandie operation 2-3 players.
-Ardennes: tactical level of the bulge offensive, 2-3 players.
I'm in the fortunate situation that I LOVE regular D&D FRP and WHFRP and also fancy playing board games. It's hard to make a choice here and always will be, I guess.
Any wargamers out there in search of opponents, please PM. Otherwise it will be good to get back into playing D&D again, looking forward to that as well.
