Hey there, I'm looking for some people to help me get back into warhammer 40k. I just dug out my imperial guard army i've had boxed up for 5 years and have started a mass conversion/painting project on the 200+ models.. I'm about 1/4 of the way from being completely 'table-top' worthy... then I realized even if I do finish this project, I haven't played since 3rd edition and don't have any idea about the new ruleset. So I was posting to see if there were any 40k players looking for a guard army to beat on. I'm sure I could pick up the rules again quickly if someone wouldn't mind playing with a bit of patience. Hope to hear from ya!

I'm just painting my first ever models (real shoddy job) but I'm looking to play this game for sure. I wouldn't be much of a help with the new rules because Ive yet to really dive in to them. But if you head down to play let me know because I'd enjoy learning.

Boomerooski, I'd be up for playing a game to get back into the rules. I'm free most weekends if you want to get a game going on an upcoming one. I don't own a 5th edition rulebook yet, been scouring ebay for one that isn't as damaging to my pocketbook as a brand-new copy. What army did you end up rollin' with?

I know it's very short notice, but my friend and I will be meeting Monday (9/20) at around 3PM. We are willing and happy to teach any new or returning players. We normally try to meet every Sunday afternoon around 1 or 2 for games as well if you would like to joing us. If you wanna arrange a game, feel free to message me thru these forums.
Also, if you are just beginning or returning, I'd highly recommend reading thru the 5th edition rulebook and your codex. It probably won't make a lot of sense at that time, but it will drastically increase your learning speed.
You can check out this 40k podcast as well. Great tips for starting up and building your army.

One of the great things i love about my podcast is seeing the forums of all the private gaming stores that there are.
Hey guys its Shrek here from 40k warcasting. It's awesome that you all are getting back into 40k. Someone recommended the podcast, and i will point you all to an early episode: episode 6. We did this episode when 5th edition came out, so its alot of what changed between 4th and 5th edition. I hope this helps get back into gear
Finally, there are certain sections of the podcasts called bootcamp 101. this is where we go back to the basic rules and look them over, to make sure we understand everything, and try to start to give some tactical advice.
hope this helps.

Funny seeing you pop in here, Shrek. I'm the follower during recording with the screen name 'TehWhiteknight'. Really great that you follow up on the smaller boards with listeners and new folks.

If you guys meet at 12:00 I can probably make it.. I have to leave at around 4:00 because of work. I don't know how long a game takes since i haven't played 5th edition yet... but I imagine a couple hours. I don't want to start a big game and have it at its focal point when I have to leave for work.. I'll probably show up shy of noon and chill till I see someone who looks like they've been born of Dorn..

Ya. It was great meetin ya. I was the guy in the yellow shirt. Sorry, I'm not the best at introductions. I'll pass your thanks on, but we're always happy to have more players so it's no problem at all We won't have as many folks next Sunday due to everyone's schedules, but we'll be happy to help ya along some more See ya this weekend.

Hey Hans, this is Andy. I was trying to keep everyone organised last Sunday. Anyways, not this Sunday but the following (10/9) we should have the majority of the players available for the game then. It was a pleasure meeting ya, and I'm always up for a 1v1...when I have time :P.
