A group of players is running a 40k Mega battle on Sunday, November 7th. They will be recreating the Battle for Cold Steel Ridge, as detailed in the Space Marine and Tyranid codices.

As this battle details a conflict between the Ultramarines and the Tyranids, only "Vanilla" Space Marine and Tyranids forces may be played, though proxies are acceptable.

Each player will need a 2000 point army for either Space Marines or Tyranids, using the standard force organization charts, and using no Special Characters. It may be helpful to bring extra units in case your side is short of an even force.

Each team will have some special units:

Space Marines- 1 Baneblade (The Pride of Hera)
Marneus Calgar with Armor of Antilochus

Tyranids- Swarmlord, with 3 model retinue of Tyrant Guard
Old One Eye

Some rules will affect all players on each team:

Space Marines- Marneus Calgar's God of War

Tyranids- Swarmlord's Alien Cunning will extend the +1 for reserves to all Tyranid players
Synapse will be shared for this mission

When I was designing this I was trying to give the players as much freedom as they could and still have it make sense with the battle (thus no special characters).

We'll plan on getting you guys started around 11:00, leaving plenty of time for setup in the morning, though we'll have tables free to get things organized Saturday evening if that appeals to anyone.
