I am starting this thread to contain all the info regarding the Marvel Heroclix expansion for August 2010*, Web of Spider-Man.

Before we had this sparkly new section on our forums for Heroclix, we posted a thread featuring the promotional poster for the set. You can find it here:

Here is what we know about the set thus far:

The set's primary theme is Spider-Man, his allies, and his enemies. It will also feature characters from Dark Reign.

Confirmed to be in the set at this point:

4. Red Hulk
5. Deadpool
6. Dr. Octopus
7. Wolverine (standard yellow costume)
8. Wolverine (black X-Force costume)

13. Venom (I know we JUST got him in the last Marvel set, but here he is again!)

Other tidbits:
> Doctor Octopus is supposed to have some amazing special 4-armed attack ability.
> There will be 40 characters from the set that have never been made in Heroclix before. I assume that a Norman Osborn out of costume and an Iron Patriot count, but not Green Goblin.
> There will be a new web-shooting mechanic. I've no idea what that means.
> It has been mentioned that the army-building options from the last two sets will be carried forward, so there will be some kind of generics. Whether or not they use the REV-style system we saw in Brave & the Bold, we do not know.
> The Buy-It-By-the-Brick figure will be Spider-Man as portrayed on the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15, his first appearance, drawn by Jack Kirby. It will show him swinging past a building carrying a thug. Look at the poster. It looks cool.
> The Spidey-theme promises characters from his earliest appearances to more modern characters, both popular and obscure.

Hey! With Web of Spider-Man releasing on Aug. 4, just 6 weeks from now, you'd think we'd be receiving more previews for who, exactly, is in the set.

I notice that the HAMMER agent is referred to as the Elite operative. This suggests to me that other operatives will be present in the set, some of them regular or standard operatives. For those familiar with the Brave and the Bold set, this will probably be very similar to the way they made Amazons, Checkmate agents, Parademons, and League of Assassins members - there will be 3 slots taken up by different HAMMER agents, each using the same sculpt painted differently.

Also: take note of the rarity on those figures - Norman Osborn is uncommon. Iron Patriot is rare. The Green Goblin is a super-rare. It will be a bit tricky to get all 3 figures, but it looks like they will provide for some very interesting play if you can manage it.

Slightly bad news on the Web of Spider-Man front: Wizkids has to delay the release of this expansion as well as the release of the Watchmen's collectors set.

The Watchmen's collectors set, originally scheduled for the end of July now will be released on Aug. 25.

The Web of Spider-Man Marvel Heroclix expansion, which was originally scheduled for an Aug. 3 street date, has now been pushed back to a September 8 release.

It's kind of a bummer, but the products are still coming, so don't fret.

OK, here is the real-deal list. This differs from the last list in that all figures are confirmed AND all positions (set numbers) are also confirmed.

Normally, positions 61-64 are chase figures. It has been confirmed that instead of being chases, those figures are super-rares. That means this is the first set with 16 super-rares.

#100, of course, is the Buy-It-By-the-Brick figure. Figures 101-105 are Limited Edition prize figures (repaints/alt dials from figures already in the set) that cannot be acquired through booster packs. They can only be earned through playing in tournaments, like the ones we hold at Merlyn's on Sundays at 1 pm.
