After seeing how week one has went and seeing problems in the future if we wanted to continue this league or using these teams that we are going to put so much time into, I would like to propose a Pre-Emptive change to our league play.

For about 2 years now a hard working group of Blood bowl fanatics have been at work re-making the league rules for the game. Their rules will be published in the 20th Anniversary box set coming out in 2007.

The new rules don't really effect play much, but greatly effect the league system in ways that allow for easier addition for new teams, a better handicap system, and special play cards are back!

The new rule book is on the specialist games website under experimental rules. Download the PBBL (Perpetual Blood Bowl League) Rulebook 11.1 at
www.specialist-games.c.../vault.asp
or here is a direct link to the rulebook
www.specialist-games.c...on1_11.pdf

I would like to make this change personaly (as I feel this is a giant leap in Blood Bowl league play for the better) but would understand if people don't want to change.

If we change there will be NO schedule to play,
New Teams may join any time as the Inducement system keeps new guys from getting Wrecked!
maximum # of games per season (12 per team),
maximum 2 teams per coach (w/ only one eligible for playoffs and NO trading or donations between the two),
maximum 2 games in a row vs the same coach,
maximum 3 games (per team) vs the same coach.
ALSO a copy of all rosters must still be kept at the store.

So in the next few weeks please vote on whether or not to change to the PBBL Rules, Majority wins and please post that you have voted so I know how many current league members have.

PLEASE VOTE NOW Wink PLEASE VOTE NOW Wink PLEASE VOTE NOW Wink PLEASE VOTE NOW Wink
PS: Season 2 WILL be PBBL format and converting teams now would be possible as changing later may not so we may have to start our teams over next season!

I generally like the new rules but I'm not sure I want to play them yet. One thing I like about leagues is that we all start at the same place and we play the same number of games and it's my team vs. your team. The new Handicapping rules (Inducements) might even things out better than the old ones did, but I'd rather play without handicaps if possible. Sure I might beat tiger woods with a 100 stroke handicap, but did I really beat him?

Guess what I'm saying is that I like the new rules, but I'd rather stick with a set schedule. Plus, a schedule forces you to play some teams that you wouldn't otherwise play. Sure, everyone wants to play against the fancy foot Wood Elves but nobody wants to play against the low blow Chaos Team. Playing on some bigger PBEM leagues, I noticed it was much harder for the bashem' teams to find games.

How about we keep the set schedule, but switch the rules? Inducements, new Cas table, new skills, and TV instead of TR (which works much better for our league anyways).

I'm up for trying anything, and these new rules look pretty cool. I have to admit, though... I DID like the set schedule and the one game per 2 weeks and I'm not sure that moving to a 1 per week play who you want system won't still be hard to coordinate at times. Confused

The new rules seem good, but i agree with Irongaze that the schedule should be kept to, it just worked well for me. I agree with the inducement system, its a good leveller. Fair enough, if you played tiger woods with a 100 stroke handicap and beat him, sure you'd have won with help. BUT It'd be a much more fun game than if you'd just sat and had your ass handed to you on a plate. With relish.
I like the fact it makes it really easy for new players to join, if that option will be open. Just from the one game i played, there was a heck of a lot of interest. I know that if i was new to the game, i wouldn't want to play some uber 2 mil coin team with a newbie team and no help.
It keeps it fun, and it gives the better coaches a chance to prove themselves against the unknown variables.

Ok so it sounds like most everyone is ok to switching to the PBBL rules.

The problem is the scheduling.
If I make say a 8 week schedule and then next week we have 5 people who want to join then I have to remake the schedule, should I just release pairings one week at a time each week adding the new people who want to join in.

Or we could do a combo of the 2,
Have to play 8 weeks of scheduled play with say 4 "extra" games that can be against anyone but no more than 1 extra game per opponent.

I think you should just make the schedule as you go.
