Merlyn's is hosting the Lucky 13s events again this year! Lucky 13s is a national Apocalypse campaign following the exploits of the Mordant "Lucky" 13th Regiment of the Imperial Guard. The campaign spans six months, running from May 9th until November 7th.

Each month we will be hosting one "mega battle" Apocalypse game with multiple players contributing between 1500 and 3000 points to their side. Each army has objectives in addition to the mission goals, and achieving them grants bonuses to be used in the next mega battle.

In addition to the mega battles, we are currently planning several in-store events including an Apocalypse league, a Kill-team league, Terrain and Objective building days, and a short story writing competition.

Anyone who participates in at least 13 events or tournaments before November 7th will receive a patch and certificate at the end of the campaign showing their membership in the Lucky 13s Club. All 13 events must be from Merlyn's and we will keep a register of players and participation that will be submitted to GWS at the end of the campaign.

Lucky 13s Club members from last year gain special bonuses in the mega battles, so if you already have a patch, be sure to bring it in with you!

My name is Kyle, and I'm interested in joining in on these events, but I had a few questions. I asked John, but he just had come back from his vacation so he didn't know the nit and grit. I was wondering how many people were going to be involved and what armies are they going to be representing? It says to bring a 1500 to 3000 point army, so should I just construct two lists? And as I take it each player gets to choose their own strategic asset, and the only bonus ones come from one side being outnumbered (for the battle) and from army agenda points in future battles? Since I'm not requiring signups for the first event, the "day of" will probably be our first indication of who will be playing. You also don't need to be at every event to participate, so new players can join in at any time.

You only need to bring one list with a points total less than 3001. I would recommend trying for a list with a total more than 1499, but if you bring a list that's short I won't prevent you from playing. Last year I brought two lists so that I could join whichever side needed the boost, and we'd certainly appreciate the help.

If we have too many players, I will split us into two games so that we can finish in a timely fashion.

You are correct in that each player will be able to choose one strategic asset and that bonuses will be awarded for being outnumbered. Army agenda points work a little differently, but since no one will have any until after the first battle, we can discuss these on the day.

My concern was also with balance, it would be more fun to have even sides for the fight, that just means more crazy stuff to have happen! I know that the strategic assets help offset the difference in numbers but in my mind getting some crazy tactics on the battle field is more important then tricks up the sleeve. So perhaps I will just make two lists as well... just in case. I have 6 armies so then at least I might get to play one of my newer armies if needed. And I guess my only other question is what time does the battle begin?

I expect enough people that we shouldn't have a ridiculous imbalance, and if we have too many, I'll split us into two games.

Merlyn's doors open at 10:00 am, and I'd like to get the first turn started by 11:30, which means everyone should be in and ready by 10:30.

Patriotic Basing/Modeling/Painting Contest

Rules: Diorama Requirement

Entry must include United States Flag (either painted or modeled),
Entry must have at least two(2) models on base,
Entry base cannot exceed 5.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches in length by 5.5 inches in height.
