I was at the Y last week, no one else was tho and Matt says FoW is dead there.
Today we had 7 players and thru together a 6 player game combining an American Death From Above to capture two bridges and an Armored and Armored Infantry assault to try to reach the bridges and relieve the American Airborne.
It was fun to watch. The Airborne eventually captured both bridges but then were cut, encircled and destroyed after the Panzers wiped out the American Armored Infantry and then the Armored Company.
Germans got a Majority victory and then a Final victory as the last few platoons of Airborne stuck away back to their lines as night fell.

MW,
US Airborne dropped in DFA on a 4'x6' section of the table attempting to capture two bridges. The German player was guarding them with a Grenadier Company with armor support. The rest of the table was 4'x8' and was a Hold the Line with a German Grenadier Company trying to hold off an American Armor Company and an American Armored Infantry Company while frantically calling for a German Panzer Company to come on the board as reserves.
Jeremiah: German Grenadier defending vs. David US Airborne
Evan: German Grenadier defending vs. Bill US Armor and Ben US AI
Sean: German Panzers, the rescue force
The German Grenadiers holding the line with 88's and some Tigers decimated the Americans. The Americans failed 4 straight range in attempts to bombard the 88's with smoke and create a safe zone for their Armored Infantry to approach.
After a disastrous drop, with fully 1/4 of the US airborne that landed in the zone ending up in a steep ravine and dying on impact (dirt darts) and 2 of the 8 platoons landing off board completely. It appeared the US airborne were in a world of hurt.
Jeremiah went first and was somewhat ineffective but resecured the bridge. David then started using Airborne motivation and close assaults and wiped out the Grenadier Platoon defending the furthest bridge. Then with scattered reserves coming on threatened the near bridge and actually gained control of it for a brief time.
Then the German Panzers arrived in force and shut the door on the American armor attempting a breakthru. This sealed the fate of the Airborne as they slowly ran out of ammo and hope.
Germans get a Minor victory as the Americans held 1 of the bridges the entire game and the second bridge for a single turn. Had the US Airborne held the second bridge at the end of the game it would have been declared a draw.
Great game everyone, not bad for throwing it together at the last moment.
Chris

That's what I don't like about that damn DFA mission, you never drop on the objective, you drop near it.....

Actually, he landed lots of troops on or near the back bridge, which was his target. He cleared that out completely, then his reserves came on in the right places. So he did well.
The Armor and Armor Infantry had fits trying to break the line to link up. Had they put a little bit more pressure on and cracked the line, I think the US would have won.
