FoW National Qualifying Tournament at Oroboro
We would like to welcome all Flames of War players to the FoW National Qualifying Tournament to be held at Oroboro Games in Redmond Washington on November 4th, 2006. This tournament is a qualifying event for the Official Battlefront US National Tournament at Origins 2007. The winner of this tournament will be allowed to attend the national tournament and if we get 20 attendants then first and second place winners will be allowed. However if a qualifying finalist is unable to attend the national then this position can be given to the next winner down.
Cost: $10.00
When: November 4th 2006.
10:00-10:30 – Registration and show of your army
10:30-1:00 - Round 1 (2.5 hrs)
1:00-1:30 – Break lunch/snacks
1:30-4:00 - Round 2 (2.5 hrs)
4:00-4:15 – Break
4:15-6:45 - Round 3 (2.5 hrs)
6:45-7 - awards
For signup information and a list of players that have signed up so far can be found here:

Rules: Forces will be up to 1500 points using all official Mid-War Intelligence Briefings from the Ostfront or Afrika Handbooks or the website. Warriors can not be played. We will be using new 2nd edition rules for Flames of War including all online updates and Lessons From the Front. Airborne companies may opt to play Death From Above instead of the Free-For-All mission. Three different missions will be used throughout the tournament so be prepared for game play on different terrain types, scenarios, and varying opponents.
Scoring will be by the standard FoW tournament rules. Please familiarize yourself with these rules, as they are different than the rules normally used in the tournaments that take place at Oroboro. Briefly scoring encompasses three distinct areas:
1. Historical Army 15 points
2. Generalship 30 points
3. Sporting Play 15 points
More details on how the tournament will be scored can be found here:

Here it is guys. I hope that some of you can make it. Paul and I had a great time and you would all be welcomed.
If you are having difficulty locating a place to stay the night (you should drive over on friday) let us know and we will see if we can get some space for someone to stay.

Havn't quite figured that out, but we will probably use three of the standard missions. I will get back with you when it is decided.
My suggestion:
1. Meeting Engagement
2. Hold the Line
3. Breakthrough

My only suggestion is try and make the scenarios that would encourage you to bring a "balanced" army. Some armies are obviously more catered to defence, some to offence (Both Sean's have offending armies).
I'm not opposed to saying: These are the possible scenarios. Game 1 will be this or this. Game two will be this or this.
I understand some people would rather know excatly what missions will be played, so they can build their army. I'm not sure how they will do it at nationals. Anyone know if they post what missions will be played before hand at the national level? Terry?

Paul, Yes, We knew a month in advance. Some had 2 options, but basically options were either both defensive missions or offensive missions. One mission allowed for a para drop if the person was so inclined. One mission you could build 50 points of defenses if you were an infantry company. There was alot of towns and terrain to limit armor. Still there was alot of armor but lanes of fire were very limited.

Hi guys. We got 21 on the list now, so to secure a spot you need to pre-pay if possible. The tournament is only $10, cheap stuff for a fun day of games. The store can take a card payment over the phone.
Thanks guys and I look forward to playing you all.
