Kudos to those of you who got the joke.
Shame on the rest of you.
Regardless of your knowledge of 80's movie trivia, you can still compete on the battlefield of either the Old World or the wasted landscapes of the 41st Millenium. All you have to do is bring your army down to one of our upcoming TOURNAMENTS!!!
That's right. I used the T-word. There will be a Warhammer Fantasy Tournament on Saturday, December 17th. There is a $10 entry fee kicked back into prizes. The Fun will start at Noon, but players should show up around 11 to get everything straightened out. This one will be a full 2000 points people, so dust off those lords. No special characters, though, so Grey Seer Thranquol will have to sit this one out. Here are the scoreing rules:
There will be 106 points available... the points for appearance are counted seperately and will not count towards overall score.
You can get a total of 60 points in your battles, meaning that if you win ALL your missions and recieve ALL the secondary objectives, you get 60 points.
There are 30 points awarded by your opponents for sportsmanship and fairness of your army. So play nice.
Finally, the score that everybody seems most curious about, there are 16 points for composition. This is the same scoring that has been used in the past for my tournaments, but here it is again:
>At least 40% Core
>More Core choices than in other selections
>No more than 25% in Rare or Special
>No more than 10% in the Magic Items
>Unit names and designations
There will also be a Warhammer 40,000 Tournament on Saturday, December 31st. That's New Year's Eve for those of you keeping track at home. Again, there will be a $10 entry fee, no special character, and 11 am showup with a 12 pm start. The scoring will be the exact same as above with the following changes:
>At least 40% Troops
>More Troops choices than in other selections
>No more than 25% in Fast Attack, Elites, or Heavy Support
>No more than 10% in the Armoury
>Unit names and designations
Both competitions will include seperate scoring and prizes for appearance, so slap some colour on your troops before coming down!
See ya in Valhalla!
-Josh

Not at all... in those instances where an individual unit designation might feel inapropriate ('nids, 'crons, penal legions...) I will quite happily accept a name for the general and the army as a whole.
Now, that isn't to say that you couldn't get creative with the names of mindless masses lacking any sense of individuality... you could use the designations that enemy troops might use when looking at their data feeds of the incoming forces... even if that is just "Grunt Squad A", "Little'uns", or "Big and Shinies". The purpose is for you to have fun with your army. So start having fun. NOW!

Are we going to be permitting any chapter approved or alternet army lists?
obviously its discreationary but my main question--
Ulthwe' strike force -- yay or nay?

Ulthwe Strike Force is published in an official codex, so of course it is legal. As for others, Chapter Approved is totally acceptable as long as it is specifically stated that they are a fully playtested and finished list. Kroot mercenaries, for instance, are labeled official. The Imperial Guard Armoured Company is labeled just for fun. See the difference?
